RIDS-Nepal, under its philosophy of 'Family of 4', designed and implemented 'Kholsi Drinking Water Project' in Kholsi village in 2009/2010. The village is located in Northern Humla in Syada VDC at an altitude of 8028ft from the sea level. The project was a partnership initiation between RIDS-Nepal, the Kholsi community, the ADAR Foundation and the LiN Foundation aiming to provide safe and clean drinking water for 72 households in the village. RIDS-Nepal completed the project in July 2010 and is planning to hand-over the project to 'Kholsi DWS Users' Group' in November 2010. The major structures constructed are the Intake Tank at source, Pipeline, two Break Pressure Tanks (BPTs), one 10000 Ltr. capacity Reservoir Tank (Ferro-cement Tank) and eight Village Tap Stands. With the completion of this project, Kholsi villagers now have access to clean and safe drinking water at their doorsteps and are now safe from the dirty/polluted water from the nearby stream/rivulet.
